The Bible takes grief seriously. A third of the Psalms are laments. Jesus wept at a funeral even though he knew he would raise the dead. These verses are for the long days, not for tidy answers.

Short prayers for grief
- 'Lord, you are close. I can't feel it. Be close anyway.'
- 'God, you keep my tears. Don't let one of them be wasted.'
- 'Jesus, you wept too. Sit with me.'
- 'Spirit, pray for me when I can't.'
- 'Father, give me one mercy for this morning.'
